Dr. Paul Kivela is a practicing emergency physician at Queen of the Valley hospital in Napa, CA, on the board of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the Chief Medical Officer for Newsura’s Failsafe Healthcare initiative. Paul holds both MD and MBA degrees. Dr. Kivela will moderate today’s discussion.

Cody holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of St.Thomas and a doctorate in medicine (MD) from St. George’s University. He served as a medical scribe and scribe trainer prior to attending medical school. These experiences afford him a unique understanding of the physician-scribe relationship. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and his professional interests include clinical workflow, rural medicine and emergency medicine.
American College of Medical Scribe Specialists (ACMSS)
ACMSS provides education-to-certification and employment-to-certification pathways toward becoming a Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS). ACMSS also enables quality “real-time” documentation at the point of care, aimed at aiding clinician-patient relationships and effective health information exchange. Kristin is a Graduated Practical Nurse (GPN) and has degrees in Clinical Informatics and Health Information.
Linda is a Practice Manager of EMSOC, a forty physician emergency medicine group seeing over 115,000 annual emergency visits. The job requires oversight and management of billings, recovery, human resources, strategic planning and follow up. she is also a co-founder of ScribeMD.
